The sixth session will open with the Facilitator asking the group members how they are doing today. The Facilitator will then go over homework assignment. Facilitator will discuss what they were thinking about during the homework assignment and if it was difficult or not. After discussing homework, Facilitator will lead discussion pertaining to the grieving process. Facilitator will ask group members to define grief. Facilitator will discuss feelings, physical sensations, cognitive affect and behaviors associated with grief. Facilitator will have the group discuss their experiences from an emotional aspect. Facilitator will comment on Kubler-Ross' concept of stage theory and how many have generalized it to describe the grieving process. Facilitator will re-iterate there is no known time frame for grieving to be completed; it is on an individual basis. Facilitator will lead the group in discussion on the intensity that may be expected and reasons for various levels of intensity. Facilitator will end
session with giving members a homework assignment. Facilitator will have members write down in no less than eight sentences at what stage of grieving they are experiencing.
